Meet the Coach
What's My Story?
Hello everyone!
I'm David Leaven. I was born and raised in
the Hampton Roads area. I grew up playing soccer in Virginia Beach.
I played in the Neighborhood Youth Soccer League (NYSL) and played soccer
in high School. After high school, I was a member of the U-19
U.S. men's soccer team in the Gothia Cup (the largest international youth
soccer tournament in the world held annually in Gothenburg, Sweden) during the summer of 2010.
I played in very competitive matches against European teams (Germany, Sweden, and Macedonia) and performed well in those games.
Once I arrived back in the U.S., I did a summer-tryout with D.C. United's Academy Team. Furthermore,
I recently decided to become a soccer coach and I helped the boys JV soccer team at Bayside
High School to win more games than it has ever won in past seasons. Also, I have professional
certifications for the following: 1.) Concussions in Sports 2.) Heat Illness Prevention 3.) Child
Abuse Recognition Training 4.) Virginia State Component. Lastly, even though I don't play competitively anymore,
I love the sport and still enjoy watching Champions League and World Cup matches.
